Board message and Club news

Dear Members,

We are pleased to announce that the course will be open on Thursday 30thApril from 9.30 am.

This date ensures the course is ready and most importantly all of our staff and members are safe and our COVID-19 plans are in place. As previously advised we need to attend to a number of logistical things both on and off the course prior to the opening.

From Friday 1st May, the course will be open for play between the hours of 7 am and 5.30 pm. The course will be available to members only for the first week or so of Level 3. We are anticipating that DotGolf will be available on Tuesday for you to start booking tee times, however this is to be confirmed.

Sport NZ and NZ Golf have negotiated a number of conditions for courses to be able to open.

NZ Golf Website https://www.golf.co.nz/NewsMedia/Article.aspx?id=4192

Members need to be aware that the conditions placed on the club for opening can and will likely be audited. So it is important that the temporary rules are strictly adhered to. The list below is being developed and all guidelines for you will be provided before we open on Thursday.

Summary of rules from NZ Golf that apply to all clubs

  • ALL play is to be under a booking. You are not able to just turn up and play
  • All play is to be in your bubble only
  • Remain 2m away from non bubble members when on the course.
  • All common equipment areas will be removed and or closed. Please do not enter or use the common touch areas, these include all ball washers, the drinking fountains the practice area and the toilets on the course
  • Sale of balls, tees, drinks etc. from the starters office is not available
  • Cart use is for bubble members only. At this stage we will not be letting club carts out due to the logistics and risks of having these sanitised. Member owned carts are OK for use however there will need to be a protocol on entry and egress from the cart shed - this will be developed before the course opens.

Rules specific to Redwood Park Golf Club

  • For the first week CDL Land Limited will be working on the second hole and this will be out of play. Due to the condition of the drop hole we will only have 17 holes in play.
  • We will NOT have tee markers out as no cards are able to be entered. You may enjoy your game from your preferred tee markers as indicated by the permanent markers.
  • There will be no flags on the greens, and we are working with Dan to establish a procedure so that we can advise the hole locations on the greens before play.
  • All Bunkers will be GUR and no bunker rakes will be out on the course.
  • Due to the small size of the practice putting greens these will be closed.
  • NO starting from the 9th hole, as we are not able to contact trace players who do not report to the office.
  • There will be NO organised competitions during level three. This includes, the meat run on Wednesdays, Vets Mondays and Thursdays, Weekend Ladies, and no Monday night Junior program. Obviously if you want to have your own haggles that is up to you.
  • As there are a lot of essential workers out there we will be arranging for one tee time per hour to be allocated to them, they will be able to book via the office

Please respect these rules. If we find that members are not abiding by these rules they will be held to account, as they will be jeopardising the clubs ability to remain open and therefore all members ability to enjoy our fantastic course.

Things that you will need to organise before you can play:

  • Make sure you book online or call the office as no walk up tee times will be available.
  • Make sure you stay within your bubble as per government guidelines.
  • Please be kind to the staff, they have not made these rules up.

If you have any questions or feedback for us please make sure you let us know via an email to Hennie.

We will provide further information as we work through the course opening.

Keep well.

Regards
